The Practice of Transforming Yourself

green path

Life transforms you in the most interesting and fundamental ways.

For instance – think about how different your body looks today from the day you were born. Imagine how different your body will be when you’re 95.

You have the same soul you were born with as you go through life, but the expression of your soul can change as your body changes with life.

Your personal life path

We all have things to work on in this life. For some of us, life serves lessons right from the start with difficult childhood circumstances. For others, painful lessons come later on. But no-one gets through life unscathed.

Who do you want to be?

Life can change you in ways you don’t want to be changed. If you’re not careful, there are things that can happen that can diminish your soul’s light. Maybe you develop habits that are unhealthy, or ways of thinking that aren’t productive.

Personal beliefs you’ve created through the years, because of the way life shaped you, may not be grounded in what is best for your higher self, and for who you are now, today.

You don’t have to allow unfulfilling patterns to define you, though. You can work towards any change you would love for yourself.

Three basic steps towards transformation

If you’d like to start a transformation process, here are 3 basic steps:

  1. Take the time to play, dream, and imagine how you would be different, or live differently, if you could. Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn, or to try? Are there lifestyles you’d love to adapt as your own? What do you long for?
  2. Identify what you would like to change or do differently in your life. Take the time to really think about it, to muse on it, to take a deep dive. Think of this as an act of self-care and let it be an interesting exploration.
  3. Start taking baby steps – or re-haul one entire area of your life. Purge stuff out of your closet. Re-activate your gym membership. Reach out to a friend or drop in to a new class. Do things that are easy and manageable for you. And keep the momentum going by staying on track with your dreams and ensuring you’re taking daily steps to bring yourself into a more joyful transformation.

I created a course to help with the reinvention process a while ago, and the practices remain relevant and helpful today. It’s available at DailyOM.com: Reinvent Your Self-Image.
