The iChing is one of the most profound divination systems in existence. Created between 1,000 and 750 BCE, the iChing is often referred to as The Book of Changes. Why? Because the foundation of the iChing is based on one essential fact: life is change.
The iChing is not strictly a system for divination. It is a sacred text based on ancient, timeless philosophical ethics. It guides sincere scholars on a path to live one’s life in accordance with The Way (Tao).
Readings done with the iChing tend to be incredibly accurate. The iChing guides you to make sound decisions for more positive outcomes. It corrects you if you are heading down a wrong path.
You can use the iChing for insight into all types of situations. Anything you’d ask in a reading, i.e. advice re. your relationships, career, health, and more profound subjects, can be asked of the iChing.
Workshop Details
In this workshop, we’ll cover iChing basics, then dive in to doing your own readings. You will generate hexagrams based on the question(s) you have, and I will help you interpret your results to determine the answers.
Needed Materials: Coins, Notebook, and iChing Book(s)
There are 2 primary methods of consulting the iChing: yarrow stalks and coins. In this workshop, we will be using the coin method. Please come equipped with 3 quarters or special coins and a notebook to create your hexagrams and take notes.
Please be sure to have enough working space to shake and toss your 3 coins out in front of you.
The iChing is based on text. You cannot use the iChing without text as a reference key to understanding the meaning of the hexagrams. I have about 10 different iChing textbooks I use in order to interpret the hexagrams I receive. Every author has a different way of interpreting the hexagrams.
After you register for this workshop, I will email you a very detailed free PDF explanation of the 64 iChing hexagrams compiled by Michael Servetus. This is a great resource to have on hand and lists explanations from several different authors, all in one huge PDF document.
I also highly recommend you purchase at least one, if not more, iChing books to help you deepen into the practice. Please bring your book or books to the workshop so you can use them in your readings. While the PDF is helpful, these texts below are priceless. You’ll get a much better reading if you are using one of these books:
Total iChing by Stephen Karcher
The iChing or Book of Changes by Wilhelm/Baynes
The Complete iChing by Alfred Huang
The Occult iChing by Maja D’Aoust
Total iChing and The iChing by Wilhelm/Baynes are the two I use most. Huang’s version is very good, but I find much more clarity with Karcher and Wilhelm. Maja D’Aoust’s iChing is quite excellent. I have been relying on the versions by Karcher, Wilhelm, and D’Aoust in my readings over the past few years.

Once we cover the basics of how to work with the iChing, you will be doing your own readings. We’ll start with an easy reading everyone can tune in to, then move into you asking the iChing your own prepared question.
Note: This is a very small workshop; space is limited to no more than 4-6 people so we have plenty of time to focus on working with the iChing and understanding the answers it provides.
