The other day, someone asked me how knowing about past lives can help you heal – like what’s the point? And I thought it would make an interesting topic to chat about.

Some people do not believe in reincarnation, and we are certainly all entitled to our beliefs. There’s room for everything. I, for one, find great comfort in knowing there is a cycle to things and that the spirit lives on outside of the physical body, so I love believing in reincarnation.

From my experience personally and with clients, knowledge about past lives can help you understand where you’ve been, with whom, and why. That knowledge can help you have a deeper sense of WHO YOU ARE and what your mission is. It can help you understand why you have certain problems, why you love certain people and places, what karma/dharma you need to work on in this lifetime, and how you can do it.

Through my own personal past life healing, I have discovered much more about who I really am and the relationships I have with others. I’d love to prattle on about it all, but I don’t want to bore you. However I do just have to mention that I was thrilled to discover recently that my best friend from high school and I were twins in a past life! We both love to dress up and we still wear the same size all these years later and little thumbnail photos of me totally look like her. It all makes sense to both of us now.

If you are interested in learning more about your true spirit, the nature of your soul, and why you are here, past life work is a wonderful and FUN thing to do. And how to do it? You can start with Brain Weiss’s book, Many Lives, Many Masters. He also has another book called Only Love is Real that I like a lot, too. There are some great past life regression meditations you can do, and you can also work with a hypnotherapist to discover more. That’s how I initially discovered that my mother in this lifetime had been my brother in a past life – no wonder I always used to wish I had been a kid when she was a kid so we could have played together all day long.

On a deeper level, the first truly healing clairvoyant reading I ever had (purchased for me by my above-mentioned best friend from high school), revealed that I had been a sage in India many many years ago. Hearing that truth was like breathing deeply for the first time ever. The energy in the room literally shifted when that came through and we were all FLOORED by how powerful it was (two people were doing the reading). And that reading literally changed my life.

You are so much more than your personality in this lifetime. And knowing who you are on that deep soul level can only help you heal and grow even more.

My 4 year-old son Ivan said something profound recently:

“When people get old, they go back into heaven, and they start to get back into being a baby again. They go around and around and around.”

From the mouths of babes! LOL!

Have you ever found yourself in a negative pattern or cycle? Usually the realization that a pattern or cycle is taking effect begins with: “Why does this KEEP HAPPENING TO ME!?”

And usually these negative patterns and cycles are pretty huge and uncomfortable. From being in terrible jobs, to allowing yourself to be treated in ways you don’t want to be treated, to inadvertently attracting the wrong type of romantic partner, negative patterns and cycles are pretty painful.

The good news is, cycles and patterns can absolutely be broken (if you want them to). The secret is to become aware that a pattern exists, and to understand how and why you are creating that pattern.

From there, you can make peace with yourself and with your pattern by intense self-reflection in whatever form you’re drawn to – through spiritual development, therapy, energy healing, meditation, or any other form of deep inner work. As you know, a myriad of all kinds of therapies are available, and only you know best what will help you at certain times in your life.

Once you break a cycle or pattern, for the most part it will be DONE, however I’ve noticed that sometimes residual energy will show up, kind of like a blip on a radar, before it becomes obsolete. And if you find that does happen, you can also do more work and reflection to clear that up, too.

I’ve noticed in my work with energy healing that you don’t just focus on a problem or issue one time and heal it and make it go away forever; it’s a process, just like you don’t go to the gym one time and lift weights and expect lasting results. Inner work takes focus, determination, and dedication – but the results are beyond worth it.
