With so many scary and potentially scary things happening on a global scale, I wanted to take a moment to talk about the power of love and positivity in the face of adversity.

Everything is so tense right now that it’s easy for people to turn on one another and look at each other through eyes of fear and hatred. But if we take this opportunity to work on our own understanding, tolerance, and love, we can not only grow by leaps and bounds, but we can reverse the tidal wave of darkness and herald in a new era of light.

I recorded this video several weeks ago and didn’t post it because I stumbled over my words some (at one point I say “contribute to people feeing downtrodden” and I mean to say “understand why people feel downtrodden and help solve the problem” or at least something more coherent) and I felt like it was kind of long, but I decided to put it up anyway. No, there hasn’t been a police shooting of an innocent victim in the US (that has been publicized at least) in a few weeks. And there hasn’t been a terror attack (that we have been told about) in the past few weeks either. But tensions are still running high…wars are raging and people are suffering…and as far as terror attacks go, I have been contemplating a trip to France, and they just found a car packed with gas cylinders outside of Notre Dame. Ugh.

Things have never been easy on earth, and people have hated each other because of politics, race and religion since the dawn of time. At times like this, though, we have to remember that we are not powerless (even though it feels that way). Just because we’re not heads of state doesn’t mean we can’t start our own personal campaigns to spread more love in our communities, the kind of love that heals and changes lives.

We can start to make change happen by returning to a purity of heart, by understanding each other, and by being friendly. By loving. By talking. One person smiling with an open heart at another person can start a domino effect of lovingkindness, which is POWERFUL. It can change the way people feel. It can create unity. It’s true that the darkness is scary and that it seems like we can’t do anything to stop it, but what we can do is promise to look out for each other, to be good to one another, and to love no matter how scared and angry we are. That is how we can make a difference and that is how we can – and will – get through this.

How do you feel about the way you look – REALLY?

I have worked with so many people from all walks of life, and believe you me when I tell you, 95% (if not MORE!) of all of us are not thrilled with how we look.

Whether it’s because of how we were raised, how other kids treated us in school (in 4th grade a cute popular boy stared at me and when I asked him why he said “Because you are so ugly! You look like an ugly witch, with your big ugly witch nose and your ugly witch chin.”), or anything else – we all have appearance issues. Even the models and actors (especially the models and actors, LOL).

Spiritually speaking, this disconnect from our bodies is obviously painful and causes a rift between how our spirit and soul expresses itself in this physical reality. If you hate your body or the way you look, it’s not comfortable for your spirit to fully occupy it, so it’s hard to be fully present in the here and now, and, bottom line, to fully enjoy your life. That means it’s hard to:

1. be happy
2. feel good
3. manifest things and experiences you want
4. radiate love from your heart chakra to yourself and everyone around you
5. keep your body healthy and strong

(to name a few things!)

In this video I talk about a couple of very simple and fun techniques to raise your self-esteem and not cringe at your reflection in a mirror or your image in a photograph.

Another thing you can do, which I didn’t really cover so much, is to just LOVE LOVE LOVE your body for working for you. Love your hands for doing all these things for you. Love your feet for supporting you. Love your eyes for seeing, your ears for hearing, your mouth for tasting and talking, your brain for thinking, your heart for beating, your lungs for breathing. Be gentle and good to yourself. Stop with the criticism: enough is enough.

With Love and Light!
